Yes. Turn it on with Edit-Preferences-Appearance-Spelling check boxes
and settings as appropriate. There should be a spell icon on the
Compose toolbar and an option on the compose window under Edit-Check
Spelling.
I remember encountering a problem with the automatic spell checking
causing SeaMonkey to crash on linux mint a while ago and had it
disabled. I just turned it on again to see if it was working properly
now and it seems OK. I guess I will leave it on and see if I hit any
problems later.
