I understand that the terrorists "want" us to go crazy with fear and
paranoia, and the Bush/Cheney régime indulged them. And the Obama/Biden
administration has not had the courage or the insight to reject that
craziness, as they have not in so many other areas. This harms our own
citizens and damages our international prestige -- we can no longer
claim the moral high ground if we are just as evil as the next tinpot
dictator.
What I don't understand is how this helps the terrorists achieve any of
their own ends. How are they any better off if we go nuts? They won't
get rich as a result; they won't control more territory. All they will
get is a world with more misery in it. But I suppose insanity requires
no justification...
