True, and although I have personally considered it, I'm on Mac, with no
non-standard add-ons, and never know if someone actually did discover a
real problem.
I was, also, thinking of the golden days of Usenet in the 80's when
moderators would post an FAQ. Could that be automated? I suppose those
are on the web now. But yet even today, in 2013, typing "I updated
seamonkey and now it's broken" in Google gets you nothing useful.

was it usenet in the 80s? don't remember - I remember BBs...
But newsgroups still do that. Chris I. has a useful site but its
existence isn't advertised save in his sig - dunno why no FAQ put out
regularly - maybe since mozilla's current release policies would involve
too much maintenance?
