Interesting I'm running ABP 2.2.4 (is that what you meant by 2.4?)
"AdBlock Plus 2.4" is how it's listed in <about:addons>, same if I click
"More." I can't find any current version info on Wladimir Palant's home
page, except one reference to a version 2.3, which must be newer than
2.2.4 if that's really what you have.
with just the EasyList and it works fine. Perhaps you have a list
that is causing problems. The list I use on my other computer causes
issues with Gannet owned on line papers so I had to use something
different. I forget what it was.
I have two subscriptions, which are listed thus in ABP's option menu:
RuAdList+EasyList
EasyList
If I disable the first one, the trouble page loads consistently and
reliably. If I reenable it, I need to try several times before I can get
it.
I always close the browser window and clear private data as noted above
between tests.
Based on the list names, I wonder if I'm duplicating the EasyList
subscription.
I just discovered that I had updates turned off, so you are right, I
have an old version. It does sound like the subscription is the issue
though, not the ABP version.
Certainly this is beyond my real knowledge of ABP but I can say that
"specialty" lists are often more restrictive and thus often cause
issues. When I have used them I have had to often just accept that
certain pages will not work with them and exempt them from the list
though ABP options. Looks like you found one of those issues.
