Dang, even my newsgroup mark read is messed up. Repair folder option did
not help. Oh well.
For emails, dates are in plain text, so you just need to edit the files
in your profile under Mail. (Not the *.msf, but the equivalent * files.)
You can do a search by date (tools menu, after 2013-12-31). That will
show you all folders concerned.
I haven't looked at news group files for a long time, but I expect that
they would be the same.
The references for which emails have been downloaded does not contain
the date, so that shouldn't be affected. I would expect that it would
be the same for news groups as well.
