Every time I start SM Mail I get:
"Failed to connect to server news.mozilla.org."

What's that all about?

The server is down?

How do I stop it?

Configure the account properly.

Since it should be the same as mine (and everyone else's).

Server Name: news.mozilla.org Port: 119

Connection Security: None

That's the way mine is set up.
I've been using this news group for about 8 or 10 years and have changed
nothing recently. This pop up just started.

As you can see, I can still use this news group.
It's just that I need to X out the pop up each time.

Two more things to look at:

1) If your Internet connection is not always on and SeaMonkey is set to check message for the account on startup, it could fail to connect if you haven't made an Internet connection. In that case, go to Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Mozilla News | Server Settings (where "Mozilla News" is whatever you've named the NG account) and uncheck the box "Check for new messages at startup" (and probably also the one, "Check for new messages every nn minutes"). Alternately, get in the habit of making your Internet connection before launching SM.

2) If your Internet connection is a bit sketchy, it could be off when you assume it's on. Solution is the same as above, plus complain to your ISP or find a reliable one.
