Glad you were able to learn that tactic. It's been a part of
SeaMonkey/ Thunderbird probably since the beginning, over a decade
ago. All other email clients and newsreaders I've used also have the
same capability.
It was a longstanding bug that Mozilla products did not have this basic
feature. IIRC, Thunderbird finally got it with version 3.0 at the end
of 2009. It shipped with a SeaMonkey release somewhat before that,
but not a lot.
I too like that feature, although I must admit it sometimes shoots me in the
proverbial foot!
