I am running SeaMonkey 2.25 on MacOS 10.7.5 My problem is with Mail.
When I click on [i.e. open] an email it is highlighted with a colour
bar. If i click anywhere in the message pane below [i.e. a link in the
email] the highlighting of the email in the upper window pane in turned
off. This is not how previous versions have behaved. In earlier versions
of SeaMonkey when an email is highlighted by clicking on it remains
highlighted until the next message is clicked.
It is difficult to read email when the present email being read losses
it highlighting when the lower email window pane is clicked. It makes
hard to know which email is the next to be read.
The issue appears to be a focus issue. When the upper email window
losses focus by clicking in the lower pane, the change in focus from the
upper window to the lower window causes the highlighting of the email is
turned off.
Is there a solution to keep the highlighting from being lost when
reading my email OR is this a mail bug and I will have to wait for a bug
fix?
What are your settings for Mail & Newsgroups > Message Display >
Automatically mark message as read, and Only after displaying for []
seconds in Preferences?
I think he's talking about the blue shading, not the bolding. Regardless
of read status and those settings, the description of the current
message still has that shading.
If the OP wants to read the next unread message, he can still press "N"
without knowing which message is currently selected and SM will
automatically jump to the next unread message. Similarly, if he wants to
read the next message regardless of read status, he can press "F" and SM
will take him there.
I agree with the OP that it would be nicer if the shading remained when
the user switched focus to the message pane.
