I tried to set up a sync account today, and was rebuffed as my email address was already in use.

I don't remember setting up a sync account before, but there is a lot of stuff I don't remember anymore. Since I didn't remember the password, I asked them to send me my user name, but it didn't come, nor was a second request fruitful. I know SeaMonkey relies on volunteers, and this is a weekend, but the process seemed automated. So I'll wait a few days for a response.

Is it possible to recover a password, or to cancel one's account and start over?
