Recalling my rants after the removal of Growl support in SeaMonkey 2.19,
I revisited the topic since I have now updated from OS X 10.6.8 to OS X
10.7.5. Specifically, I remembered Phillip Chee mentioning the
Growl/GNTP extension for Thunderbird. Growl with GNTP is supported on OS
X 10.7.5, so I decided to hack a bit.
SeaMonkey is pretty easy to make work for mail by adding the requisite
section in install.rdf and then mucking with a few strings in
MessageOverlay.js. The icon is not read correctly (a common complaint
for the extension even under Thunderbird), but Growl does seem to be
working again for mail.
I'm rather pleased to see this working again. Thanks, Phil!
