Your problem sounds suspiciously like an issue I've been having with the
Mac version of SM "randomly" asking for my Master Password even though I
have my Prefs set to only ask for it the first time it is needed. This
has been going on since about SM version 1.16 or so...i.e.; YEARS.
I use a Master Password, but if you choose not to one thing you can try
is to go into Preferences->Privacy&Security->Master Password and choose
"Reset Master Password. That will clear it, but it will also delete all
of our saved Passwords as well - so note them before doing that because
you will have to re-enter them.
You should also note that if you do intend to use the Password Manager
that *not* using a Master Password is a *very* non-secure way to operate.
Correct. That's why I don't store real passwords that give access to
valuable things like bank accounts. I only store nuisance passwords that
give me access to websites whose webmasters are arrogant enough to think
their material requires protection.
If I were concerned about unauthorized persons gaining physical access
to my computer, I'd use one, though. Don't want anyone else reading my
emails.
Actually, you're more exposed than that...if a malware scripter knows
what he's doing. Physical access to your machine isn't required in the
strict sense.
