firebug-2.0.1-fx.xpi could not be installed because it's not comaptible
with SM 2.26.1
I just upgraded to SM 2.26.1 and i cannot use the FireBug addon - so
what ? :-)
So I just used this nifty new Add-on Converter tool;
<http://addonconverter.fotokraina.com/>
and converted Firebug. The resulting .xpi installed with no problem.
I just pasted the full URL of the add-on page, did not touch any other
settings, pressed the "Convert!" button, saved the resulting file and
installed manually.
I have done some research and download .... and ... i found this:
In the install.rdf file of the firebug-2.0.1-fx.xpi
we can see:
<em:minVersion>30.0a1</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>32.0</em:maxVersion>
In the install.rdf file of the firebug-1.12.8.xpi
we can see:
<em:minVersion>23.0</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>30.0</em:maxVersion>
and the SM 2.26.1 is presented as:
User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/29.0 SeaMonkey/2.26.1
So SM 2.26.1 mimic FireFox 29.0
Therefore we may not install firebug-2.0.1
and i think that we must install firebug-1.12.8
The question is:
why https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/firebug/
permit us to download firebug-2.0.1 instead of firebug-1.12.8 ?
OR
The question is:
why SM 2.26.1 mimic FireFox 29.0 instead of mimicing FireFox 30.0a1 ?
Do you want to install Firebug 2.0.1 or not? The research I did for you
shows it can be converted and installed. Can't verify it works because I
don't use SM.
Because firebug-2.0.1 is the latest version.
Because SeaMonkey 2.26 and 2.26.1 are using Gecko 29.0. SeaMonkey 2.27
would have used Gecko 30, but it wasn't released. SeaMonkey 2.28 due
next week will use the Gecko 31 engine, if released. AFAIK they haven't
built a Beta yet.
