Seamonkey - BUG - Accounts Manager assumes every new account you want is to be a newsfeed account only - FIX INSTRUCTIONS:

Problem:

You want to make either a new 'Email account' or a new 'Blogs & Newsfeeds' account,
from the Accounts wizard ( File > New > Account ).
But instead of getting the normal standard 3 questions about which type of account you
want to make. i.e.

1. Email account
2. Blogs and news feeds
3. News group account.

Instead, the Account Wizard 'assumes' you want to make an 'News group account.',
it gives you no other option at all.

1. Type the following into the URL Bar (where your internet address shows)

about:config

A window will come up with the following:

! This might void your warranty!
Changing these advanced settings can be harmful to the stability, security, and performance of this application. You should only continue if you are sure of what you are doing.

Press the 'I'll be careful, I promise!' button.

You will now have an entire list of seamonkey system modifiers (or strings as their often called) These seamonkey modifiers (or 'strings') have either 1 of the following values:

1. A numeric value

or

2. An ascii text representing something

or

3. A switch that can be either 'false' or 'true'

The 'value' (the field with that name on the absolute right) displays what is often called a 'variable'.
This is something that can usually be changed (or though not always).
All the variables are displayed accordingly under this heading/title.

Type the following in the search bar just above the 'preference name' field.
(_NOT_ the normal seamonkey browser Ctrl-F 'Find in page' option.)

mail.server.server

This will (or should) show ALL of your email accounts.

If you have literally HEAPS of email accounts (like say 30 for example),
then one quick way i have found to look for the email accounts(s) that
have the text 'valid' at the very end of them is to do the following:

1. Click on the 'Preference Name' heading/title itself.
This will list all the email accounts listed under this heading/title in alpha numeric order. 2. Bring the scroll bar up to the very top (can use home and end keys as well to do this).

Now all of your accounts - email, newsgroups, etc, etc, have a number associated with them.

Seamonkey Newsgroup Account - Actual example list:

mail.server.server9.valid
mail.server.server9.type
mail.server.server9.storeContractID
mail.server.server9.spamActionTargetAccount

mail.server.server9.newsrc.file-rel
mail.server.server9.newsrc.file
mail.server.server9.name
mail.server.server9.max_cached_connections

mail.server.server8.check_new_mail
mail.server.server8.capability
mail.server.server8.cacheCapa.quota
mail.server.server8.cacheCapa.acl

To quickly find any possible accounts to correct, look for the text 'valid' above the word 'type' (or just the letter 't' itself) - this is easyer when done in an alpha numerically
sorted list.

Both of the above are actual direct copies of both my Seamonkey Newsgroup Account &
my IMAP Email accounts of which i have a total of 32.

The number 8 being just 1 account. This list pretty much repeats again with all my other email accounts except with numbers ranging from 1 to 32, instead of just this number 8 account example. Dont assume that the numbers directly linearly increase in relation to 'When' the accounts were made. I dont know how the numbers get assigned. It's not important for the purpose we are trying to achieve.

NOTE: These are the 'strings' for IMAP Email accounts in windows seamonkey Version 2.26.1
(current at time of writing this).

Because things change and get updated/upgraded over time with newer release versions of seamonkey, some of these 'strings' may possibly either get name changes, or be replaced with other strings,
more strings added later on, strings removed, etc, etc.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Look for one of your accounts that has been flagged as invalid.

(mail.server.serverX.valid = false, where X is a number).

The fix involves changing the value of that key to true or to delete the problem account. Once that's cleaned up, you should be able to use the account wizard as usual.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

True Example - My Seamonkey Newsgroup Account - and how i corrected:

Preference Name: Status: Type: Value:

mail.server.server9.valid user set boolean false

Double click on the line with the email account(s) and/or Newsgroup acconut(s) that have the text 'valid' after a fullstop AND have the word 'false' underneath the 'Value' column/header
to change the word to 'true'.

This real example in my case happens to be the number 9, but it could be any number at all (any account)

The irony is that the only email account which had the variable set to 'false'
was actually the 'news.mozilla.org' newsgroup account.
this problem could happen after making some account, wether it be email, or a 'News group' account.

I changed the variable to 'true'. I closed seamonkey and re-opened seamonkey, and the account manager wizard was working good as new again, i.e. when i went to make a new account i had all options again:

1. Email account
2. Blogs and news feeds
3. News group account

Original thanks to 'Trane Francks' for providing me with the information needed to correct this problem.
