I'm really having trouble replying to previous messages. What's the right
way to do it? If I click reply/reply to all I'm inmediately emailed back
with a delivery error. This time I'm sending this message only to "
[email protected]". I hope that allows everyone who has
commented on this thread to see my message.

"Look to the left of "File" on the Menu Bar. You should see a down caret
with a mottled surface. Click it to hide the Menu Bar."

Are you talking about the grippy? That's not what I want to do (it still
leaves a space). I forgot to say that on my question. Thanks for your
suggestion, anyway.

"Function key F11."

F11 switches to fullscreen, hiding almost everythng (as Walt said).
Fullscreen is not the same as hiding a toolbar.

"The nearest analog, if you want to use the same technique and reject the
others that have been offered, is View | Show | ... and check/uncheck the
various toolbars"

If only "menubar" was on that list, as in Firefox.
