I read that the browser remembers that it was a https: address at one
time & changes it. How can I stop this? Are the adresses stored somewhere?

addon not installed and if I type the address in IE it doesn't change to https

If yes, the browser will always replace http://xxxxxx with https://xxxxxx when

Check in the Data Manager whether your browser stored that for xxxxxx.
