OK reinstalled 2.32 and the auto drop downs now work. Also no time lag. I didn't do any changes to settings. It took me 4 installs to get it to work right. Anyway thanks for the feedback and help!
The page downloads scores and scores (and scores!) of javascript files before becoming fully functional. I suspect that's related to the inconsistent load times.
