From which version to which version? I had crashes on updating from
2.26.1 to 2.33. It looks like it may be updating from <=2.30 to >=2.31
which causes a crash with a certain combination of things in the profile.
I found a workaround in bug 1092810 comment 16:

Make a backup of your profile folder before messing around with it!
