Hello all,

This just started on my Vista machine.

When I click on download link on webpages for anything I would like to
download, Seamonkey crashes, and strangely enough so now does Firefox.

I am using "Flashgot" for bulk downloading without issue, only single
files that use the built in Seamonkey downloader, haven't done too much
investigating as it just started happening.

Could you type about:crashes in the URL bad and copy the most recent
crash link and paste it here?

This happens on all downloads when clicking the save button on popup
window, one of the downloads was Infraview:

http://download.cnet.com/IrfanView/3001-2192_4-10021962.html?hlndr=1&part=dl-IrfanView

Here is the dump from a download attempt from this morning:

So this appears to be an old HP with an NForce 430 / 6150SE integrated
GPU. Since this driver is 175.68 and, it seems, from 2009, see if
updating to driver 309.08
(http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/82701) helps.

Based on some of the info in the crash report
(https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/c4fcf2a3-07b6-4c3d-a275-266ef2150414),
there's no specific crashing module but I do see some DirectX-related
crashing and interaction with Shell32.dll so it *could* just be
related to that old NVidia driver. Give it a shot.

Not sure how video would effect downloads, but I will give it a try.

Eric

Shell32.dll interacts with the GUI and other visual elements. The
shell32.dll you have on Vista was recently updated in March, 2015 for
a security issue. There's a possibility that something in that update
and SM 2.33.1 are just exposing a problem that *might* be being caused
by a DirectX problem that could be addressed in a video driver update.
Where there's DirectX there's usually something VGA related.

I attempted to update the drivers, using tools from Nvidia, they all crashed, so I tried through a third party, they all say that I'm up to date.

I did notice, that only when I tried using the built in save, the browser crashed, but when I used the Flashgot browser plugin I could download the single file.

I wonder if it has something to do with Flashgot???

TIA

Eric
