Since I normally have my speakers turned off and since I use Thunderbird
instead of SeaMonkey's mail-news capability, I am not sure this will
work. However, try this.
1. On the SeaMonkey menu bar, select [Help > Troubleshooting
Information].
2. Under Application Basics on the Troubleshooting Information page,
select the Show Folder button.
3. Terminate SeaMonkey.
4. In the resulting Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer) window,
locate the file user.js and open it with either Notepad or Wordpad (but
NOT Word).
5. Insert the following:
user_pref("mail.biff.play_sound", false);
// disable new-mail sound
6. Save the edited user.js file.
7. Relaunch SeaMonkey.
NOTES:
* The semi-colon at the end of the first line is required.
* The second line is merely a comment to remind you why you did this.
* Changes to user.js are not effective until the next time SeaMonkey is
launched (thus steps #3 and #7).
