Corrupted Folder?

I have an Archives folder under one of my mail accounts with several sub-folders. Recently when I tried to move a message from a news inbox to one of the sub-folders I got an endless wait icon over the sub-folder. I now can't see the list of messages in the sub-folder as I get the endless wait icon whenever I try to open the folder. I suppose the failed moving of that last message somehow corrupted the folder. Is there any way to retrieve the contents of that folder?
