Hello, and calling all MAC users of Seamonkey. Or the developers.I have 2.39.
In an earlier thread I asked about the fact that after creating several
accounts, I wanted to view as a single inbox.
I was told somewhere that it is easier to create your accounts with this in
mind, but I want to do it after the fact.
However, despite the valiant efforts of several people, and one guy in
particular, I still cannot do it. It seems the menu
to do this is non existent in OSX.
I hope I don't have to start over, but this is what Paul G told me:
Go to Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings.
Expand each account, and click "Server Settings."
Near the bottom of that pane, you'll see a section, "Message Storage."
Click the "Advanced" button there. You'll get a dialog saying,
With SeaMonkey 2.39 on Windows, I only see this option when using a POP
server, not IMAP.
When downloading mail for <account name>, use the following folder for
new mail:
(*) Inbox for this server's account
(o) Inbox for different account [Choose folder...]
If you select the second option, one of the folders offered is "Global
Inbox (Local Folders)." This will route all incoming mail for the
account to the Inbox folder under the "Local Folders" account.
By following this procedure for all your mail accounts, you should be
able to route all incoming mail to the global inbox.
In fact MY screenshot shows no such menu.
Interesting. My screenshot shows nothing like that (or I am missing it).

That's using an IMAP server (see "Server Type" at the top), and looks
the same as I see for IMAP servers on Windows.
POP and IMAP are different. POP just downloads mail from the server, and
you can have it downloaded into whichever folder you want. IMAP allows
two-way synchronisation between client and server, so it keeps mail for
that account in a set of folders dedicated to that account (for example,
you can move/copy mail into a folder for an IMAP account and it gets
uploaded to the server).
So, if there is another place to do this, would love to hear.
You may be able to get the effect you want by using message filters on
each account to move all mail received into a single folder under Local
Folders. But that will probably delete the mail from the server in the
process, since it gets moved out of the IMAP account folder.
You might also be able to use the filters to move mail into one IMAP
account's folder (instead of Local Folders), which might delete the mail
from the server it came from but upload it to the one it's being moved
to - which may actually be handy depending exactly what you want.
I thought of going to Thunderbird, but there does not seem to be an import
account feature there either.
I suspect you'd find the options are similar in Thunderbird anyway.
