Well, that increased the size, but now I have 2 grippies in each
splitter.

This is with almost vanilla profile. To rule out conflicts with
possible other customization you might have in your profile, you
could try enhancing the first rule given like:
#folderpane-splitter > grippy,
#threadpane-splitter > grippy {
min-width: 10px !important;
min-height: 200px !important;
background-repeat: none;
background-position: center;
background-size: contain;
}
