I have SM 2.40 on a new PC with Windows 10.
Initially I had several unsuccessful attempts to transfer four address
books between the 2 PC's.
Finally I was successful as follows and I hope this "technique" will
help others.
(a) I copied 4 profiles files "folders" by name only to a folder that I
could remember where I would find them.
(b) Since the profiles can't be in the same location as the files as the
main SM folder, I did click on the
Profile Manager menu box to "discover" that any new profiles are in the
same location away from the
main SM location: example C:/\Users\Smith (you named
folder)\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\profiles\
(c) I also found that the profile.ini is a critical file that is the key
to adding the prior profile folders to the new PC.
( and not realizing that when I tried to add the address books before).
(d) by using Notepad to change/and adding the 4 profile names - the ones
I would be transferring was part of the transfer solution,
and then saving the profile.ini in Notepad.
(e) Then I transferred all 4 profiles files from their single location
as shown in step (b) above.
(f) After that, all the prior 4 profiles stuff including, address
books, mail, etc. where in place on the new PC.
(g) Only minor "glitch") was in one profile address book, and that was
an interchange of location in the actual address books two
sub-menus name : Personal addresses and Collected addresses because I
had in fact had had a very limited success in the initial attempts
to try to add that address book by itself.
Hope again this may be of use to others.
