Nice idea but PAT automatically inserts a tag when you open a compose
window.  There's no way to insert a tag once the compose window is open.

No, I'm saying discard (close) the compose window. Whether it's a new message or a reply, you haven't "lost your work" if you do so before typing any of your message.
