It's probably a matter of individual servers and how seamonkey to work
with them...
I also see slight differences in behavior for IMAP accounts (gmail,
g-suite, courier-imaps and other), RSS feeds and USENET NEWS accounts
(mozilla.org, gmane.org, eternal-september.org).
Maybe someone else will know more...
