This is slowly but surely driving me crazy: the focus shifts almost

Try keeping the cursor away from the taskbar, that helps. Park it
somewhere else when you're not using it.
But if you accidentally mouse over one of the application tiles, Windows
will show it to you, and if you keep typing it'll decide that's what you
wanted. Too "smart" for your own good.
I remember seeing a "focus follows mouse" setting that I can't find
now :( But it sounds like what's being described in this thread..
move the mouse to a different window and that window gets the focus.

Uncheck "Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse"
I do not have that setting checked (I looked for it before), and the
problem isn't happening with other apps (for example, it does not happen
with Firefox).
Also, it's always as I'm typing (hands definitely off the mouse) and the
focus always goes to another SeaMonkey window (most often to the Mail
and Newsgroups window, although my hunch is that the focus goes to
whatever SeaMonkey window was opened first). It will happen repeatedly,
but if I minimize the window to which focus goes, the problem disappears
until that window is again on screen.
