Is there something I need to show these emoticons (not emojis) correctly

See if you can find something in SeaMonkey similar to what I have in
Thunderbird. After all, they both use a common MailNews core.
In Thunderbird, I select [Tools > Options] on the menu bar. On the
Options window, I select [Display > Formatting] and check the checkbox
for "Display emoticons as graphics".
I don't see that.
I know the following do work:
:-) = Smile
:-( = Frown
;-) = Wink
:-P = Tongue Out
:-D = Laughing
:-[ = Embarrassed
:-\ = Undecided
=-O = Surprise
:-* = Kiss
>:o = Yell
8-) = Cool
:-$ = Money Mouth
:-! = Foot in mouth
O:-) = Innocent
:'( = Cry
:-X = Lips are Sealed
You might have to view the source of this reply to see the markups for
these emoticons. There might be others.
I just noticed this only happens when viewing these Outlook HTML
e-mails. Viewing them as forced plain texts do not show this problem and
shows the correct yellow faces. Why can't Mozilla force like plain text
formats for emoticons?
