I've just changed laptops. The CRITICAL difference is the
change FROM
a 4:3 aspect ratio TO 16:9. I can properly display web sites if I
*set ZOOM to 130%. I can find settings for min and max zoom in
about:config.

I wish to *FORCE DEFAULT ZOOM* to 133%. How?

Since this is not a program-specific issue,

*ERROR*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is *EXPLICITLY* a problem with *EXACTLY* _ONE_ program --
SeaMonkey 2.40.

Also appears situation unchanged in SM 2.46

There is no option to specify a *DEFAULT* zoom

OK, what happens if you specify a range from 200% to 300%? Does it really default to 100%, outside the allowed range?

On my 2.46 installation, the answer's no. I get 200% and CTRL-0 does not reduce it below 200%, but if I restore the original 75% minimum setting and restart the browser, I'm back to 100% with the option of manually increasing/reducing the zoom ad hoc between the new set limits.

In short, if you set a minimum greater than 100%, you will never see 100% zoom again. The browser will always start with your new minimum.
