Particularly the extensions we use whose authors won't make the effort
to change to the new model and whose extensions will simply stop working.
My feeling is that what drew me to this "Mozilla experience" is dying.
And don't see anything out there to replace it.
One thought:
If I freeze my updates to SM at some point prior to some horrible
update, what are the real security issues? If, say, Mozilla Firefox
core code causes SeaMonkey to change and it's negative, what specific
vulenerabilities exist by staying with a legacy SM? I mean, lots it
yelled about security but, actually, how much actual risk is there with
staying with an older version?
And a comment to any devs who (unlikely) might read this: You are
losing all of us because you don't listen. One word for all of you:
Hubris.
Just because I don't pay for it doesn't mean it doesn't cost you or me
something. If I stop using it your efforts are for nil.
I stopped updating SM at 2.26.1 and FF at 27.0.
They work perfectly. Someday I may update everything, but not on this
day. The last virus/trojan any of my machines got was in 1991 due to a
game my son got off of a BBS. I have _never_ gotten any bad things from
the internet. I stay away from Alt2600 stuff and hacking ... most of the
time. No active virus shields either.
Your experience may be different.
