MozUser, if you want to download all the messages from a particular
newsgroup onto your hard drive, have a look at
File->Offline->Download/Sync Now setting. This will allow you to just
download (I think) upto 500 messages per news group at a time, although
that 500 number can be changed at Edit->Mail & Newsgroups Account
Setting, then select "Server Settings" for the News Account you want to
download and there, under "Server Settings", you can select how many
messages you download at a time.

If you download the messages to your Hard Drive, they will be stored
there, but, if you have SeaMonkey set up as "Online", then when you
click on a message, SM will try to find it online, and if you are not
online SeaMonkey will probably tell you you are not online or it cannot
find the message or some such. So, to use the messages you have
downloaded onto your hard drive, you need first to go off-line, either
by File->Offline->Work Offline, or, down in the bottom right of your
screen you should see what looks like a power lead plugged into itself.
Click on that to go off-line.
