The "m.s.seamonkey" group is selected in the list of newsgroups and is
displayed as dim grey text on a dark grey background. That makes the
text totally unreadable unless I move to within a few inches of the
display. When I switch focus to the news/mail window that changes to
white text on a light green background, which is quite readable. While
I was creating this post a post came into the folder, which changed the
text color to bright blue which is quite readable.
I assume that it is possible to tweak this, but have no idea where to
put what. I suspect that changing the text color to white on dark grey
would work fine.
Thanks for any assistance in this tweak.

You could install another theme and use that. EarlyBlue makes
everything easily readable.

You could alternately create a userChrome.css file and just tweak the
colours using that. I do not know what specific elements to tweak,
since I have not had to do that.

With the exception of the color choices in the selected but not focused
text I am happy with the theme, which is Little Monkey for Sea Monkey
2.0.27 which I have been using for a long time. I don't recall having
this problem earlier, so it seems to have something to do with later
releases of Sea Monkey.
Your mention of UserChrome.css was exactly what I was thinking of, but I
likewise have no idea what elements to tweak nor the format of the
tweaks themselves. That was the reason for the post, appealing to those
who have more knowledge of the topic than I do.
If I don't get a response from the newsgroup I will see if I can contact
the author, although the theme has been untouched since June, 2015.
