Thanks for answering. As happens I discovered the solution right after
posting. The ancient bookmark I had for realclearpolitics.com featured
http, while the https (that I copied from IE11, which evidently
converted the URL to https automatically) worked instantly. Rectified!
If it weren't for stupid mistakes I'd hardly have any at all. :P
I have found that SeaMonkey will translate http into https automatically
if the protocol changes for one of my bookmarks. Why would that not
work for everybody?
