Whilst having a look at bug #43278 which deals with marking cross-posted posted messages as read, I had to look at my news.mozilla.com.rc file and found that the line for, e.g., mozilla.general, and it looked like ....

mozilla.general: 1,108291-108954,108956-109166,109168-109233,109236-111978,111980-112011

I posted message # 111979, so I can account for it not being "Marked as Read", but that is the only missing file that I can account for.

So what happened to the other missing messages??

The same thing (missing post numbers) occurs in the five groups I use on the news.mozilla.com server.

On the odd occasion, I filter some messages out to Trash, but the filter is set to mark those messages as read .... so they should be listed in the *.rc file as Read, shouldn't they??

Maybe some posts might be caught on the news.mozilla.com server and deleted as "Not Appropriate" or what ever. Maybe the allocated message number doesn't get re-used. What would I know!!

What happened to the other missing messages??
