Paul, I cut the "SeaMonkey Setup" from your post (just to be sure I got the spelling, etc., right), opened my Windows Explorer, selected my "Computer" (so it would search all my various Windows drives), then pasted the "SeaMonkey Setup" in the search field.

The screen quickly displayed various file which include "SeaMonkey Setup" or even just "Setup" in their names (and lots of files that must contain either with-in their contents) and the most recent "SeaMonkey Setup" that was displayed was "SeaMonkey Setup 2.49.1" (O.K., so I missed the two intervening versions, or, at least, if I did d/l them, they're not showing up either.

OK, if Windows Explorer can't find it, I'm prepared to assume you don't have it: either the download failed or you somehow deleted it. It's no longer a question of identifying the download directory since no directory on your system contains it.

FWIW, on my system I don't get miscellaneous filenames containing "SeaMonkey" or "Setup" or both. I get only those with both. But I've seen some quirky behavior from WE before (including search results that don't all contain my search term), so I can't rule out your story.

And YES, the D/L Manager is showing that I've downloaded a PDF on 6th Aug, and, as I type this, I'm downloading Netscape Communicator (communicator-v451-export.x86-unknown-linux2.0.tar) from my ISP's FTP page (not, as far as I know, by FTP, and yes, I know Communicator is OOOLLDD, and YES, I know it's a Linux file, but its a file!!) and it shows on the D/L Manager screen.

Well, the other idea I suggested was to look in that download directory. Right-click that recent download from the results pane and choose "open file location," which will show you the directory containing that recent download. If the SM 2.49 installer's not there, that would confirm that you don't have it, that you need to download it (again).
