Can I work with more than one email account with SeaMonkey? My ISP
has created an additional Pop3 email account for another family member
(Wife). For example (not real account names, of course) me
<[email protected] and her <xx>@yyy.com . Both accounts use the same SMTP
server for outbound. When I try to create another account, it tries
to set up a news account instead of an email account.
You can, I do.
This is a known bug. The easiest workaround, once the new news account
has been created, is to delete it. You should then be able to create new
mail and news accounts as desired. If not, post back.

After creating a news account through clicking a news URL, the MailNews
account wizard may be broken (the account type will always be News). To
work around the problem, set the mail.server.serverX.valid pref (where X
is the internal number of the corresponding news account) to true in
about:config, or delete the invalid news account (bug 521861).
I was unable to create the email account on this machine. After letting
it create a spurious news account and then deleting it, SeaMonkey then
allowed me to create the email account. But, when clicking "finish",
SeaMonkey crashed. I tried it a couple of times and then gave up.
The good news is that since my wife's computer had no news accounts, the
process worked flawlessly the first try. So problem solved, sort of.
This need came up because many websites use the person's email address
as the User ID or as a key to certain services. This is sometimes a
problem, such as with healthcare portals. We also use (and like) the
USPS Informed Delivery system. Since we have a PO box and a physical
address -->> need a different email account for each.
Next steps: off to the Samsung Phones to set the new email address up
with IMAP. Then back to my computer to see if the "about:config" set
mail.server.serverX.valid trick works.
Thanks for the tips, all.
