Was Silverlight removed from 2.49.5 or am I just not checking the right box? It works for me in 2.49.4, even when I re-download it. It just displays a white box in 2.49.5.

Thanks!

Andy

I didn't know anyone still used Silverlight since it has been depreciated by Microsoft since 2011.

Microsoft is still supporting it -- I know that in Windows 7 installations, I keep having to hide offered updates each time Microsoft comes out with a new version.

Over the last several years, Netflix has been the most prominent site using Silverlight. I haven't followed closely, but I'm guessing that they have moved to another distribution tool.

At this time, the best thing to do is to uninstall *all* external video players (Flash, Shockwave, Quicktime, etc.) unless you know that you need them. Chances are pretty good that you don't, and if you do encounter something that requires a player you don't have, you'll get a complaint that it's not there. It should be easy enough to reinstall, if you really want the content. For me, I removed Flash about 3 years ago, and while I still occasionally bump into something that requires Flash, I generally conclude that whatever the content is, it's not urgent enough to bother with reinstalling Flash.
