I've noticed a few unexpected oddities in SM 2.49.5, and wondered if I
was alone and whether there are fixes or workarounds.
1) My old Windows 7 jump list with pinned websites disappeared, probably
because SM 2.49.5, was installed as a "new program" rather than as an
update. So I've been gradually reconstructing it by visiting the
relevant sites, and when they appear as "frequently visited" in the jump
list, I pin them. Of course I do know about SM's bookmark feature, but
it's often more convenient to use the jump list for my favorites.
2) The new message notification icon in the tray no longer appears, nor
does the sound alert play. I've tried disabling it in the Windows
settings and then reenabling it, but no joy. I've checked the SM options
and they are exactly as I had them in v. 2.49.4:
Edit | Preferences | Mail & Newsgroups | Notifications
When new messages arrive:
...
[x] Show a tray icon
[ ] show a balloon alert
[x] Play a sound
(•) System New Mail Sound
(o) Custom sound file
