The old downloads api was removed by mozilla. 2.53.1 switched to the
jsdownloads api same as in Firefox (since around 26 I think).

Actually, although the extension seems almost completely broken, somehow it got
to intercept the downloaded file names
and (wrongly) put them in the bottom line of the Mail window (instead of the
Browser window) which is completely odd,
and those downloaded items handling is also broken (right-click menu items do
not work).
Now I am stuck between two choices: to upgrade just from 2.49.4 to 2.49.5 (to
keep that extension working) or to go for 2.53.1
and not looking back (forgetting that extension, but per my initial testing
2.53.1 is significantly faster and compatible with more websites).
