I tried using View > Show/Hide > Tabs Toolbar in Mail & Newsgroups but
it didn't appear to work.
When I used Edit > Preferences > Browser > Tabbed Browsing and enabled
"Hide the tab bar when only one tab is open" the tab disappeared.
