Actually, I think these are two separate problems.

For donor status, be aware that when you enter "Lapsed" in the query screen, this
refers to members who are lapsed. But what you are finding is not members, but
payments. And the payments themselves also have a field called status, which is
different. Basically, the status field on the Payment Entry screen shows what the
member status would be if this were the last payment. Silly, I know, and I've taken
it off my layouts because it's confusing for people.

But how could you be finding current payments if the member is lapsed? Well, the only
thing I can think of is that the Member Status field looks at the last payment in
terms of Post Date. So if you had a payment that had an earlier post date but whose
membership lasted longer than one with a later post date, you could have a mixed up
Member Status. Try your query again and see if you have any data entry errors in the
dates. In general, you should try not to change the Start Date values that pop up
when you add a new membership payment, which will make sure that new memberships begin
as the old one ends.

As far as the date ranges go, you need to use three dots ("..." without quotes)
instead of the dash. If you're using FMP 5, entering a date as 00 should be ok, but
if this still doesn't work try using 2000.

Let me know if this works.

Matt
