i think the only problem with the current Windows installer is that in some
cases it won't take localhost as a valid host name; since Mika has the 1.3
JRE, the 1.1-related issues that were a part of 3.8 shouldn't be a factor
here -- as is evident since he got the gateway up.

This is your problem. Unless you've got a nodes.config file with the
addresses of a few other nodes, you must have this line in your Freenet.ini:
informRead=yes
Otherwise, your node will not know about any other nodes. Essentially, it'd
be like trying to talk to the Internet without any sort of network
connection.
