Dear Sir/Madam,
I have installed freenet v0.3.9.1 on both my office PC and home PC (use
the same copy, that is, downloaded only once), but neither work.
Both installed Jre 1.3.0_02 (though downloaded separately).
On my office PC (with NT4SP3 workstation, and networ connection):
The installation of freenet seems OK, it searched the Jre, the inital
config. window came up, and the icon showed on the task bar. But
1. When I right-mouse click on "HOPS" and then select "Configure",
nothing happens (no window come up for me to do configuration).
What I did wrong in installation?
2. When I click the "Open Gateway" on the freenet menu, or type
"http://127.0.0.1:8081" in a web browser, the brower gives message
" .Connection Failed
The system returned:
(146) Connection refused
The remote host or network may be down. Please try the request
again."
If I type "http://127.0.0.1", then the message becomes
"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server."
If I type a key, such as
http://localhost:8081/freenet:MSK@SSK@NLgvvGUTGnwgEN9jKEeC3G6jhEEQAgE/freenews//index.html
it gives the message
"ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved
------------------------------------------------------------------------
While trying to retrieve the URL:
http://localhost.cse.unsw.edu.au:8081/freenet:MSK@SSK@NLgvvGUTGnwgEN9jKEeC3G6jhEEQAgE/freenews//index.html
The following error was encountered:
Connection Failed
The system returned:
(146) Connection refused
The remote host or network may be down. Please try the request
again.
I have tried manually modify the port 8081/8082 to other
values in freenet.ini, but the result is the same.
What can I do about this?
On my home PC (with NT4SP5 server, and dial up to an ISP):
1. The installation of freenet seems different from that on my
office, -- it doesn't show any thing about search java runtime,
no initial config. window, and no error msg. Only the DOS command
window opened and then closed quickly. Then dialogbox appears,
says that the node cannot establish, and asks me to specify the
java.exe or javaw.exe in the Flaunch.ini.
I uninstalled and the reinstalled freenet, but the same.
It is able to establish the node only after I manually modified
Flaunch.ini to specify the path for java/javaw.
2. Again, when I select "Configure" in the taskbar menu, no window or
anything else happens.
3. When I click the "Open Gateway" in menu, the gateway can be opened
in the browser, but when type a key (either in the gateway's key
field, or the browser's location field, it alway gives msg
"Network Error
Couldn't retrieve key:
freenet:MSK@SSK@NLgvvGUTGnwgEN9jKEeC3G6jhEEQAgE/freenews//index.html"
4. When I tried to insert a file in the gateway, it gives the msg
"Inserting key: SSK@aibohyjbphboh*xfcqspwjefs*dpn/articles/cnp/
A fatal exception occured while processing:
Freenet.ConnectFailedException: Freenet.ConnectException:
java.net.ConnectException:
Connection refused: connect when attempting to connect to
tcp/127.0.0.1:19114
Encountered the following exceptions while trying to Insert:
Client object signalled: java.io.IOException: Exceptions while
inserting."
Best regards
Xiaogang Zhang
