I tried to run freenet 0.3.9.1 on Windows 2000 Pro
English using Sun Java JRE 1.3.0_2
I installed it using the windows installer
freenet_setup0.3.9.1-1.exe
When running Freenet I got the dreaded
Could not find the main class. Program will exit!
dialog box.
>From a quick inspection, it semed to me that the
problem was caused by the blank in the "Program Files"
part of the path of the java JRE installation:
"C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.0_02"
So I:
uninstalled frenet
UNINSTALLED THE JAVA RUNTIME
re-installed the java runtime specifiing as the
installation path "C:\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.0_02" (no
blanks)
re installed freenet from
freenet_setup0.3.9.1-1.exe
Now, at first glance, freenet seems to work fine: i
can access freenet through my browser and i can use
the freenet gateway window.
I still did not have the time to try the dos box line
commands, though.
Hope this can be useful for someone.
Good luck
ugopardo
