how can I tell if my Freenet node is working? I am behind a NAT device, and I have it configured to pass the appropriate port (in this case 12257) to the machine running the freenet server. I also have configured, inside freenet the IP address to be the IP address of the NAT server.
I'm running Win98, DSL, with 256Mb of ram, and a gig designated for freenet storage.
My designated freenet storage directory is nicely filling up with files, so I'm confidant _that_ part is working, but upon looking over the log file (BTW: it's a PITA to look at the log, because it's always open by freenet - you have to copy it to a temp file, and look at the temp file), I see a _lot_ of requestfailed messages:
Jun 24,PM:Freenet.<...>DataRequest -> tcp/65.29.147.13:15220
Jun 24,<...>210e0a - RequestFailed <- tcp/65.29.147.13:15220
How can I verify that my node is publicly accessible, and benefiting the FreeNet community?
Thanks in advance!
Brooks
PS. Bug report? I am running on the
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1-b24), and I am noticing mass memory leaks. After a while, nothing will open, and everything reports 'can't do <$task> insufficient memory...'. Problem with JRE or FreeNet? I'd be happy to test some beta code for ya if you think you can lick the problem.
