Marion, That would be helpful. I just joined the list today, although I've been working on the project for a while.
It is possible for me to see archived messages through Hawk, but I would still have to download each message manually. If you have an easy what to concatenate all the messages you have, that would be great. Thanks. As far as documentation, I thing there the developers have done a great job so far. The web site is much more informative that most other project sites. However, it is, as you say, badly organized for someone first coming into the project. I too had to vist the site several times to get a feel for how it is organized. I'll be working on an outline to better organize the information. I've printed out the entire site and I'll be sitting in my hammock looking it all over. If you want to, it would be great if you could do the same. We can work on making a sort of "mid level" documentation. I think the introductory information is great (what is freenet, how do I install it), and if you know a lot about Java and are willing to be a developer, you can simply look at the CVS repository and see how the code works. But for people getting into it, I think the site isn't well organized. Right now, I see the problem somewhat like this: There needs to be different levels of documentation. Entry level (what is freenet, how do I get it working), Low level (How does it work, how to I get involved), Mid level, and High level. Maybe even split that up and make a developer's level. I don't know. It probably just seems like I'm rambling. But the point is this: I'm trying to come up with some model about how the web site should work. Please, please, please give me feedback. Tell me how you think the site should be organized. Also, other people to talk to (since I'm not even on the project list anyway) include Ian Clarke, who is in charge of the web site as well as the project in general, and any of the web designers listed in at http://sourceforge.net/project/memberlist.php?group_id=978, the Freenet project member's page on SourceForge. Please tell them your concerns. Right now, I don't think any of the major developers are working on documentation. Of course, they should be spending their time actually developing, not writing all the documentation. My point is, if you'd like to help reorganize the site, please do. Don't be shy. You don't have to know everything to know what people need to see to understand Freenet. Thanks, Wesley. > -----Original Message----- > From: Marion Bates [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Saturday, 29 June, 2002 15:29 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: [freenet-support] RE: Your experiences with Freenet; FN > beginner's guide > > > --- You wrote: > Regarding an outline, I'll work on one right away.
