The Java Software Development Kit (SDK) and Java Runtime Environment (JRE) versions 1.2 and up implement version 2 of the Java language/API. So Sun's JRE 1.4 *is* Java 2. Oh, except that it's apparently called "Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE)" now. Java 2 version 1.4, if you can believe that. (Likewise, Sun's Solaris 8 is really Solaris 2.8, which is *REALLY* SunOS 5.8.) -- Greg Wooledge | "Truth belongs to everybody."
