I'd say your FTP daemon probably doesn't understand large files. Or possibly IE doesn't. (I know there are issues with large files in Win9x.) Not related to the FTP problem, but have you tried updating the node yet? I wanted to have a fairly large data store (I've got a spare 40GB drive sitting on the shelf) but even with only 256MB, I have to delete the store almost every time I restart the node. A smaller store seems to be more robust (only subjective).
