Hello-

I'm trying to get a freenet node up and running (system specs below). The node starts up fine, but as it seems to get integrated (~70 connections open) I can no longer access even the gateway page. For a time, http://localhost:8888/ seems to be alright, but then it starts taking longer and longer... and... long... er... to load the page; eventually, it isn't worth waiting for anymore. Obviously, no other freenet pages will load either! :)

Sometimes, when I try to stop the node in this state, it will come down fairly quickly. Other times, it takes several minutes but does eventually cleanly come down. But at least 1 in 3 times when it gets "bogged down" I have to do a kill -9... not pretty.

I've tried messing around with different settings (such as max threads, bandwidth limits, memory limits... all that I thought could cause it) to no avail.

Thanks for any help,
Josh "sinclair44" Watzman

System specs:
1GHz G4 (PPC) Processor, but have the userspace processor manager reduce it to 667Mhz for less heat (I have tried setting it all the way back up, didn't help either).
1GB RAM, 512MB swap; even when freenet is running, only about 200MB total used
Gentoo PPC Linux, 2.6-series kernel (release 2.6.9 I believe)
IMB Java 1.4.2 (have tried blackdown 1.3.1 and kaffe 1.1.4, the only other two JRE's for Gentoo/PPC, but neither worked *at all*)
