Some more detail would be nice. There are several different Couldn't
retrieve key messages... Either Data Not Found, or Route Not Found,
usually. You can get extra detail by going to "Advanced mode" on the
main web interface page ( http://127.0.0.1:8888/ ).

Also make sure you can accept connections on the FNP port (if you are
directly connected and not firewalled, you can; if you have a firewall,
NAT or router you may need to open or forward the port, which is listed
as listenPort in the freenet.ini file). And show us the top of the Open
Connections page. And can you get any of the main freesites linked from
the web interface page above? The Freedom Engine, for example? Leave the
node running for a day or two solid, it takes a while to learn its way
around the network.
