I would like to turn off all the not nescessary threads. I've had to lower the maximum threads from 1000 to 500 because of critical CPU usage - it's a 2.8 GHz with 1.5 GB RAM. That seems not to be enough to let in run without any limits.
I've a 3 GHz with 1 GB of RAM, with no limits explicitly set, and I don't have a problem with CPU usage.
"No limits explicitly set" does not mean, that are no limits set by default. In this case your maximumThreads default value is set to 120 for example. My is set to 400. More threads = more work is done and more power is needed.
